Worsfold hopeful of new West Coast deal
West Coast coach John Worsfold could be re-signed by the Eagles as early as next week.
The Eagles have won just three AFL games this season but have shown marked improvement on their disastrous 2008 campaign, when the club finished second last with just four wins to its name.
West Coast's hierarchy have been satisfied with the club's progress this year and a win against Richmond at Etihad Stadium on Saturday night would all but rubber stamp Worsfold's reappointment.
Worsfold, a two-times premiership captain during his playing days with West Coast, took over as coach in 2002 and has led the club to finals football on six occasions, including the premiership in 2006.
"I'm hoping that when I open my office door on Monday morning there may be something waiting, but who knows," Worsfold said on Tuesday.
"We haven't got to that point yet.
"I'll just go with the flow, deal with it as it's there.
"I'm pretty comfortable with where I sit at the moment.
"I've got a fair idea of what the board expected from us this year.
"I've still got a half a season to produce those results, so that's my main focus, to show the board and our players and our supporters that we do have a plan and we are on track to achieve success in the near future."
When asked what it would be like if the deal happened next week, Worsfold replied: "That would be lovely.
"I'd be happy with that and hopefully the board would be rapt if that takes place."
