Injury sidelines Demons draft pick
A schoolyard accident has left Melbourne's AFL recruit Sam Blease with a leg fracture and probably sidelined him for the rest of the season.
The 18-year-old was playing lunchtime football at Yarra Valley Grammar when the injury happened.
The Demons recruited Blease with their second pick at No.17 in last November's national draft.
"Sam was playing football with his mates today at lunchtime, he was tackled and fell awkwardly when the injury occurred," said Demons football manager Chris Connolly.
"This is obviously a setback, but we see Sam as a long term player for this club.
"We will now begin to prepare him for the commencement of the 2010 pre-season."
It is unlikely the Demons would have promoted the midfielder to the AFL this season.
