Broncos to have partial booze ban
The Brisbane Broncos will implement strict anti-alcohol measures at the NRL club for 2009.
Accusations of a drinking culture at the club came after three players were investigated for an alleged sexual assault following a night out and captain Darren Lockyer was alleged to have crash tackled a bar owner in a separate incident.
News Limited newspapers reported the Broncos' get tough stance came after a two-day conference with new coach Ivan Henjak on the Gold Coast.
The rules will include no alcohol between Sunday matches and Friday night games, Sunday morning training sessions, Saturday night curfews and players to be stood down from first grade if they fail to follow the rules.
Broncos CEO Bruno Cullen said: "We won't ban drinking per se but we will have control over when they should drink and how much they should drink."
