Barrister to review Broncos drug probe
A high profile barrister and former judge has been asked by police to review the report on the Broncos drug investigation.
The State Crime Operation Command Drug Squad has concluded its investigations and is finalising the investigation report.
The report will be referred for independent assessment to Tim Carmody SC who has agreed to overview the matter.
It is believed video footage on a mobile phone seized from one of three players involved in an alleged sexual assault of a 24-year-old woman in a Brisbane nightclub toilet on September 13 also showed people taking drugs.
Last week, Mr Carmody was also asked by police to review evidence gathered in the investigation into allegations of sexual assault by Brisbane Broncos star players Karmichael Hunt, Darius Boyd and Sam Thaiday.
Mr Carmody, who is currently working as a barrister, was the head of the now defunct Queensland Crime Commission and also a Family Court judge.
A police spokeswoman said it was inappropriate to comment further on the investigation until the review was complete.
