NSW Rugby signs deal with Japanese club
The NSW Rugby Union signed an agreement with Japanese club NTT Communications to help improve the playing standard of the second division outfit.
Coaching and fitness staff from the Japanese club have spent the last 10 days with the NSW Waratahs high-performance unit, to discuss management and fitness measures they can implement at home.
The deal signed extends the partnership between NSWRU and NTT Communications for a further two years.
"There is a fairly universal mindset in Australian Rugby that we should be doing whatever we can to improve the standard of rugby within the region and this partnership is another step in ensuring that continues to occur," Waratahs high- performance unit manager Tony D'Arcy said in a statement.
Currently in the second division, NTT Communications is working towards competing in Japan's leading competition, the Top League.
Their squad has been boosted by two international players - former All Blacks lock Brad Mika and former ACT Brumbies squad member Tim Le Nevez.
