Lions lose Adcock to quad injury
Struggling Brisbane have lost rising midfielder Jed Adcock to a quad injury ahead of Saturday night's AFL clash with West Coast at the Gabba.
Adcock sustained the injury at training on Wednesday and was on Thursday ruled out of a home game which has increased in importance following two upset losses in Melbourne.
Despite the loss of the key on-baller, there were positive signs for Brisbane on Thursday with co-captains Jonathan Brown and Simon Black named for the round 16 match.
Brown (hip) and Black (shoulder) will face their moments of truth at training on Friday after sustaining injuries in last weekend's 37-point loss to Essendon.
Black is considered the less likely of the two to play while Brown has confidently told teammates he should be right to line up.
Mature-age recruit Bradd Dalziell, defender Jason Roe and Scott Harding have been promoted in the places of Adcock, the omitted Troy Selwood and injured ruckman Matthew Leuenberger.
Late developer Dalziell, a fourth round draft selection, played in the WAFL last year as a half-forward/wingman with East Fremantle last year.
Albert Proud and Scott Clouston are on the Lions emergency list and loom as potential replacements for Black and Brown, respectively.
