Lions' Buchanan to have surgery on thumb
Brisbane are set to be without former Sydney forward Amon Buchanan for a month after he broke his thumb in Saturday night's AFL victory over the West Coast.
The new recruit will undergo surgery on Tuesday and the operation's success will determine Buchanan's length of time on the sidelines.
Lions coach Michael Voss said a best-case scenario was a return in a fortnight but he felt a four-to-six week stint was more likely.
In better news on the injury front, Brisbane remain hopeful vice-captain Jed Adcock will line up against Carlton on Thursday night after improving rapidly from an ankle injury.
Voss on Monday rated Adcock a 50-50 chance of playing the Blues and said he'd give him until match day to prove his fitness.
"We'll give him every chance," said the coach.
Meantime, Voss reiterated Blues discard Brendan Fevola would remain on a media ban in the lead up to his first match against his old club.
