Lappin set to bolster Lions
Brisbane will be banking on Nigel Lappin rescuing the AFL club from a five-game home losing skid after the star midfielder was named in the Lions squad to face Geelong on Sunday.
Lappin has been cursed by injuries this season and earned a recall from Brisbane coach Leigh Matthews after completing a training session.
Lappin, the Lions' best and fairest in 2004, has missed the past three rounds due to ongoing knee soreness but appears a huge chance of finally bringing up his 250th game.
Hard nosed utility Chris Scott was named on an extended seven-man interchange bench after overcoming neck and hamstring injuries to complete training.
Gun ruckman Jamie Charman wasn't named by Matthews however, and will most likely make his return from yet another setback to his broken leg through the reserves.
Brisbane has won just one game at home this season but will be full of confidence ahead of the clash against the Cats after recording their second successive win over Carlton on the weekend.
It was the first time the Lions had won two consecutive games all season after a dismal start to 2005 left them floundering at the bottom of the AFL ladder.
The three-time premiers struggled through the opening stages of the season but have been rejuvenated by the emergence of a talented crop of youngsters.
Matthews has thrown a host of fresh faces into the deep end this season including last round's Rising Star nominee Jed Adcock.
Adcock, 19, could get the job of marking Geelong superstar Gary Ablett this weekend and said he was looking forward to the challenge with several other youngsters gunning for his position.
