AFL star Swan fined for payment delay
AFL star Dane Swan has been penalised after failing to pay his chunk of a $100,000 settlement on time to a cleaner he brutally bashed at Melbourne's Federation Square in 2003.
Michael Celano sued Swan, Kade Carey, a nephew of Wayne Carey, and former Williamstown player Aaron Ramsay in the Victorian County Court over the attack on December 21, 2003 he claimed had left him with permanent brain damage.
Swan, Carey and Ramsay pleaded guilty to affray in the County Court in 2006 and were ordered to perform community service.
A settlement of $100,000 was due for payment on October 16 but the trio failed to pay by the deadline.
On Tuesday they were forced to pay an additional $1,500 on the default after lawyers confirmed the late settlement payment had since been made.
Swan did not appear at the hearing.
