Philippoussis through to third round
Mark Philippoussis came from a set down to beat 11th seed Paradorn Srichaphan in a second round match at the Australian Open.
Philippoussis, making another comeback from a knee injury, was outstanding after a slow start to beat the highly-fancied Thai 3-6 6-1 1-6 7-5 6-3.
Srichaphan was 30-0 at 5-6 in the fourth, but the Melbourne local went up a gear to break serve and take the set.
He then broke serve again to go 5-3 up in the fifth.
The match lasted two hours and 39 minutes and Philippoussis will now play Armenian Sargis Sargsian.
Philippoussis did not deviate from his game plan, even though Srichiphan looked sharp in the first set.
"I hung in there tough - he's hitting the ball so well and he's seeing the ball like a football," the Australian told Channel Seven.
"I just had to hang in there and take my chances as they came.
"My game going in was to attack - chip and charge - if he passed me, (he's) too good.
"At the start, he was passing me, I persisted and it paid off.
"The biggest part of my game I'm really happy about so far is my concentration and that's what I wanted to work on."
