Agassi strolls into last 16 at Open
Andre Agassi pushed aside one of the few players in the Australian Open who was born in the same decade as him.
And as in his first three matches, he did it comfortably.
The 33-year-old Agassi beat 29-year-old Thomas Enqvist 6-0 6-3 6-3 to set up a fourth round meeting with Thailand's second most revered man, Paradorn Srichaphan.
On a day dominated by American players, the 32nd seed Robby Ginepri also got through, along with the unseeded James Blake.
Other, non-superpower success in the third round went to Russia's Marat Safin, Dutch 16th seed Sjeng Schalken and Srichaphan.
Although it was achieved in three, straightforward sets, Agassi's defeat of Enqvist was notable for levelling the score between the two players.
Until the match the Swede, as well as being in the same age group as Agassi, was one of the few players in the championship who had a head-to-head advantage over him, having won five of their nine previous meetings.
Having tidied up that statistic, Agassi now moves into a stage of the tournament where he might appreciate the comparatively easy path he has had so far.
"It might not seem like a difficult match," he said.
"But you have to go out there and you have to execute," Agassi said.
