Wright tossed as Kings belt Bullets
Security guards had to escort the referees from the court after Brisbane coach Joey Wright was ejected during his side's 121-105 loss to the Sydney Kings in Brisbane on Saturday night.
Wright was thrown out of the game midway through the final quarter when he stormed onto the court screaming at the referees.
When the game ended, referees Scott Butler, Anthony Leicht and Adam Hill had to be escorted by security officers from the court as angry fans converged on them.
The Bullets management reacted by cancelling the post-match press conference.
Soon after Wright was ejected, Brisbane captain Simon Kerle was hit with a technical foul, further igniting a crowd of almost 3000 fans, who heckled the referees continuously throughout the final term.
Sydney guard Shane Heal set up the 16 point victory with game-high 34 points, with good support from imports Kavossy Franklin, who had 25, and Chris Williams, who chimed in with 20 for the second-placed Kings.
Brisbane's leading scorer was import Kevin Freeman with 26 points, one more than fellow import Randy Rutherford.
