Former Phoenix Suns guard Gerald Brown has orchestrated a rare win over Brisbane on their home court with Perth upsetting the reigning NBL champions 105-95 at the Brisbane Convention Centre.

The ice cool American closed out a brawling contest which was in the balance until the final minutes after Brisbane pulled back to within three points (94-91) when Perth's Alex Loughton was hit with a technical foul.

Brown finished with 21 points for the game, part of a balanced scoring attack for the visitors with Shawn Redhage scoring 22 and Paul Rogers finishing with 20.

Worse was to come for the home side after the game with Bullets coach Joey Wright revealing several of his big name stars were in doubt for Wednesday night's clash against Melbourne.

Bullets skipper Sam Mackinnon's season will be assessed on Monday after he struggled to move on the court.

"Sam will be evaluated by the doctor on Monday to see if he can finish the rest of the year," said Wright.

Defensive specialist Dillon Boucher was a sorry sight in the dressing room, unable to lift his leg with a suspected torn groin that could put him out until the play-offs.

Point guard CJ Bruton is also battling an ankle injury.

Boucher left the court after being flattened by an elbow thrown by rival Alex Loughton near the end of the game.

Loughton's tech foul ended his night.

Brisbane guard Brad Williamson made both penalty shots and when Adam Gibson made it a four-point play the game was set for a thrilling finish.

But Brown's vast experience came to the fore in the final minutes as the Wildcats ground out a tough win against Brisbane, who were missing the firepower of classy import Ebi Ere who was in the US for the birth of his third child.

In his absence, Williamson (22 points) grabbed the opportunity to show his shooting talents, lighting up in the second quarter after coach Joey Wright blasted his players for not matching Perth's physical tactics.

Perth centre Paul Rogers looked like taking control of the paint with a strong opening few minutes but it was Brown who kept the Wildcats in touch with his leadership and 15 points.

Perth coach Scott Fisher was happy with his team's effort to keep Brisbane to 40 points in the second half with what he described as "Wildcats basketball".
