Cairns crowd rile Giants
Victoria will make an official complaint to the NBL after import Rob Feaster had to be restrained during an altercation with spectators in the dying minutes of the 100-87 loss to Cairns on the road.
Match officials acted on a request from Victoria coach Marcus Wright to have a man ejected after a heated confrontation between Feaster and Wright and a group of spectators seated directly behind the Giants bench.
Cairns officials confirmed they will launch their on investigation into the incident.
Wright said after the game that Victoria had taken the issue up with the Cairns officials and would pursue the matter through official NBL channels, with a request to be made that the spectator in question not be allowed to return to the Cairns Convention centre for future Giants games.
"It is not right. People can cheer and barrack all they like but when things become personal that is not right," Wright said in relation to the behaviour of the spectators.
"Don't get me wrong I think Cairns have a great thing going here with their fans the way they support the ball club but these guys were calling Rob Feaster a molester.
"This guy was saying he could do what he liked because he had paid his money. They have to realise they can't just do what they want.
"We asked the officials to have a spectator ejected but all security did was escort him to a seat at the end of our bench.
"That is not good enough. I think if we did not have that incident a couple of weeks ago this would have cleared our bench. There were some very angry boys out there.
"I remember what that man looks like, I got a very good look at him and if he is here the next time we play I will not start the game."
