Coach Bleiberg resigns from Qld Roar
Queensland Roar coach Miron Bleiberg has resigned from his position at the A-League club.
Bleiberg's resignation comes a day after the Roar fell to their third loss in four matches, beaten 1-0 by Adelaide at Suncorp Stadium.
The club made his decision public on Sunday night in a statement.
"Following the recent indifferent results of the team, Queensland Roar FC coach Miron Bleiberg has offered his resignation from the post of Head Coach which has been accepted by the club's board of directors with immediate effect," it read.
"Mr Bleiberg is desperate for the club to achieve its aims of finals football this season and feels changes are required to meet that goal."
Club officials nor Bleiberg would speak publicly on Sunday but a media conference has been scheduled for Monday morning at Suncorp Stadium.
The coach was understood to be under immense pressure to hold his job at the end of the season with former Socceroos coach Frank Farina touted as a likely replacement.
Farina is a leading candidate to replace Bleiberg immediately and his name will surely be discussed when the Roar board meets on Monday night to discuss a successor.
The former long-time Australian international led the Brisbane Strikers to an NSL title in the late 1990s and is known to have a close relationship with a number of Roar board members.
The Roar are currently under great pressure to keep their place in the top four after sitting second only a fortnight ago.
Newcastle's win on Sunday sees it draw level with Queensland in fourth place on 16 points.
