Young Socceroo ready to Roar in A-League

Exciting youngster Dario Vidosic is keen to create a selection headache for Queensland Roar coach Miron Bleiberg.

The 19-year-old has made it clear he wants to play in Queensland's A-League clash against Adelaide at Suncorp Stadium on Friday night just hours after returning from the Young Socceroos' unbeaten tour of Malaysia.

Normally that would be a no-brainer considering Vidosic's dream A-League debut season and starring role for the Australian under 20s.

The only problem is Bleiberg must break the coaching golden rule to find room for his young gun - never change a winning team.

Queensland is one of only two unbeaten A-League teams and lines up against an Adelaide team in second place which is still buzzing from last Friday night's 5-0 thrashing of New Zealand at Brisbane.

But Vidosic has not given Bleiberg much choice after following up his dream A-League introduction with his form at the ASEAN Football Federation Championship Youth Tournament at Malaysia.

The attacking midfielder scored the winning goal in the Australian under 20's 1-0 win over Malaysia on Sunday night, which capped their unbeaten run at the four-nation tournament in Kuantan.

He headed the winning goal in the 29th minute from a well-directed cross by Tarek Elrich.

"I was really glad to get a goal. It's given me a bit of a confidence boost now and it was valuable to get because it won us the game as well," Vidosic said.

"It's been really good. First we beat Thailand 3-0, then Vietnam 4-0 and then Malaysia 1-0 so we were really successful and won the tournament.

"The conditions there were very wet and made it difficult to play in but we did really well."

Vidosic burst onto the A-League scene by scoring in Queensland's season-opening 3-0 win over Perth and hasn't looked back.

No wonder he wants to hit the ground running and play against third-placed Adelaide despite a limited preparation due to his Young Socceroos commitments.

He said he spent just two hours at home on arrival before returning to Roar training on Tuesday.

"I'm feeling good. I'm ready to play this weekend and I'll be looking to get a place on the team," he said.

Vidosic has played three A-League games this season but missed out on the 5-0 thrashing of the Knights.

But Vidosic added: "I was kept up to date with the score the whole way through so I knew how we went.

"I'm really happy. It was a great win for the boys and hopefully we can get more of the same this weekend."
