Queensland Roar beat Perth Glory 2-1
Queensland recorded its first win in four matches but more importantly cemented second spot on the A-League ladder after a come-from-behind 2-1 win over Perth Glory.
The match marked 10 years since Perth made its debut in the old National Soccer League but the Roar recovered from a slow start to gatecrash the party at members Equity Stadium.
Barely a minute in, veteran striker Stuart Young scored a classic poacher's goal from close range to put Perth ahead.
Glory midfielder Adrian Webster threaded a lovely ball to Bobby Despotovski, whose angled strike was parried straight into Young's path by Roar custodian Tom Willis.
Queensland equalised in the 14th-minute when it took advantage of gaps in the Glory defensive line.
Midfielder Matt McKay drew a few opponents before cleverly finding striker Ante Milicic to his left. Milicic then evaded Jamie Coyne in the box before unleashing a right-foot strike that rattled the net just inside the far post.
The Roar eventually took the lead after 53 minutes when Vidosic scored a deserved goal.
Reinaldo sent in a cross from the right flank and Vidosic got in front of marker Jamie Coyne to skillfully steer the ball home past Petkovic.
It was exciting end-to-end action in the last quarter-of-an-hour as the Roar took advantage of the space while Perth toiled in vain for a share of the points.
Minutes after Perth had a penalty appeal waved away when Roar's Andrew Packer looked to have handled in the box, substitute Simon Lynch could have sealed the win in the 75th minute.
However with Petkovic beaten, he could only slide his shot inches wide of the far post.
Petkovic again had his heart in his mouth when a freak long-range effort from Hyuk-Su Seo minutes later rattled the crossbar.
It was Queensland's turn to experience a faster heart-rate and with 10 minutes remaining, Glory skipper Jamie Harnwell's shot was crucially blocked in the box by a desperate lunge from Roar defender Josh McCloughan.
