Glory snatch draw in Brisbane goal fest
Perth Glory snatched a last-minute equaliser to salvage a remarkable 3-3 draw against the Queensland Roar at Suncorp Stadium.
A stoppage-time strike from Jamie Coyne spoiled what looked like being one of the most remarkable A-League comebacks, with the Roar taking a 3-2 lead in the 86th minute after they had trailed 2-0 just before half time.
The equaliser silenced a 16,000 strong crowd and spared under pressure Glory coach Ron Smith a fifth loss of the season - and possibly more calls for his axing.
The game looked over in the 86th minute when Roar veteran Simon Lynch scored his second goal of the match, propping and turning before beating Glory keeper Tando Velaphi with a shot in the bottom left hand corner.
Eighteen minutes earlier, and only three minutes after coming onto the field for defender Ben Griffin, Lynch sent the crowd into raptures when he scored the equaliser from a penalty.
But the home town celebrations were ended by Coyne, who scored from just outside the box three minutes into stoppage time to salvage some pride for the cellar dwelling Glory.
It was a fitting result, with the Glory dominating almost the entire first half and showing great spirit in the second.
The visitors scored after just six minutes thanks to a Craig Moore own goal and went 2-0 up in the 43rd through striker Jamie Harnwell, but the Roar resurgence began with a goal to Brazilian midfielder Marcinho just before halftime.
