Sydney downs Glory 2-1 in Perth
Sydney FC jumped to second spot on the A-League ladder on Saturday night, coming from a goal down to beat Perth Glory 2-1 at Members Equity Stadium.
Glory coach Steve McMahon was left wondering why his team lost for the second successive time at home, especially when they opened the scoring.
Bobby Despotovski struck just before halftime but Sydney's Sasho Petrovski and Dwight Yorke ensured their team grabbed another road win.
As he had done three times previously this season, Glory striker Despotovski rose to the occasion to find the net on 40 minutes.
Hiroyuki Ishida was reluctant to run down the right hand side and send in a cross so he passed back to Jamie Coyne who, without hesitation, sent in a perfect cross for Despotovski. The club favourite timed his advance perfectly and headed past the near post.
The Sydneysiders pulled one back on 49 minutes when quality marksman Petrovski rattled the net from close range.
Yorke showed the 13,157 crowd why he was such a devastating forward for Manchester United in their treble-winning 1998/99 campaign when he punished some lacklustre defending in the 65th minute.
He and Despotovski now top the A-League's goalscoring chart with four each.
