Kelly stands down from Swans board
Former Sydney great Paul Kelly has stood down from the Swans board.
In a statement released by the club, it cited Kelly as having difficulties keeping up the commitment because of travel from his base in Wagga Wagga, along with family and business commitments.
The four-time Club Champion, Brownlow Medal winner and long-serving captain told the board he believed it was in the best interests of the club that he stand down, the statement said.
"Paul made a positive contribution to the Board and we are all extremely disappointed that he is stepping down," chairman Richard Colless said.
"However we appreciate the reasons for his decision and thank him for his efforts while on the board."
Kelly said: "It was certainly a fantastic year to be so involved with the club but I do not feel that I can contribute at the level I would like given distance and my other commitments."
A member election will be held early next year to fill the vacancy.
