Thomas misses boardercross qualifying
Australian snowboarder Emily Thomas has failed to qualify for the main event in the women's boardercross.
The 32-year-old from Dee Why came 21st in the timed run which was not enough to get her into the race proper.
Unlike the men's event where 32 competitors race off in groups of four, only 16 women make the start in the women's.
The final of the race finished in sensational circumstances with American Lindsey Jacobellis overtaken on the last jump, 100 metres before the finish line.
Jacobellis had led for almost the entire race and cockily performed a trick on the penultimate kicker but fell on the landing.
She was overtaken by the Swiss Tanja Frieden, Jacobellis scrambling back to finish second while Canadian Dominique Maltais was third.
Australians in action Saturday night (AEDT) are alpine racer AJ Bear in the super G and Jeremy Rolleston and Shane McKenzie in the two-man bobsleigh.
