Aussie snowboarder improves at World Cup
Australian snowboarder Emanuel Oppliger has ridden to a career-best 11th place in a parallel giant slalom World Cup in Canada.
And to complete a fine day for the Australian team, team-mate Johanna Shaw also producing a personal best 19th in the women's event.
Oppliger's previous best World Cup placing was 34th in the season's opening event in Soelden, Austria.
The performance gives him the second of three top 60 per cent of field results he needs to meet the qualification criteria for the Turin Winter Olympics.
Shaw now also has two of the top 60 results she requires to earn a spot on the Olympic team.
Philip Schoch of Switzerland won the men's event in Le Relais, pushing him to the top of the World Cup standings.
