Borgas scores maiden ton for SA v Tas
South Australian Cameron Borgas has scored his maiden century to take the Redbacks to 3-251 at stumps on day two of their Pura Cup match against Tasmania at Bellerive Oval.
Borgas finished the day 106 not out, batting with skipper Darren Lehmann on 17.
It was a proud moment for the 22-year-old right-hander, who was called into the match at the last minute to replace injured batsman Matthew Elliott.
Tasmania declared at 8-421 at lunch, just after Sean Clingeleffer (53 not out) brought up his half century.
The Redbacks lost Greg Blewett for six off Adam Griffith (1-74) but Shane Deitz and Borgas managed to build a 70-run partnership before Deitz (42) was dismissed by Darren McNees (1-33).
Newcomer Brendan Drew (1-66) took the third wicket for the Tigers, bowling Mark Cosgrove (74) to end his 127-run partnership stand with Borgas.
Tasmania resumed the day at 6-311 thanks mostly to a record-breaking 292-run partnership from centurions George Bailey and Travis Birt on Monday.
The side had a disastrous start to the match, losing 3-15 before Bailey and Birt launched their rescue mission.
The Tigers' bottom order added 110 runs in the first session.
Sean Clingeleffer (53 not out) brought up his half-century just before lunch, sending a cover drive for four off dumped Australian fast bowler Jason Gillespie (1-66).
