Warriors beat SA despite losing Williams
Western Australia overcame an injury setback to paceman Brad Williams to crash through the South Australian middle order and score a seven-run win in their one-day cricket match at Adelaide Oval
Chasing WA's 262, SA was bowled out for 255 on the first ball of the final over.
All-rounder Kade Harvey bowled tightly late in the innings to finish with 3-40, while WA wicketkeeper Luke Ronchi was a star with the bat with 75 from 64 balls to rescue WA from early trouble in its innings and earn man of the match honours.
SA started well in its run chase and at one stage looked on track to comfortably reel in the target.
Openers Mark Cosgrove (36 from 33 balls) and Greg Blewett (83 from 102 balls) gave the SA innings a great start with a quickfire 66-run stand in 71 balls, before Cosgrove was caught at fine leg from a top-edged hook off Harvey.
The Redbacks still cruised to 2-155 in the 30th over, with Blewett and Mark Higgs (23 off 26 balls) at the crease.
At that stage they needed just 108 runs from more than 20 overs with eight wickets in hand.
The home side's hold on the match at that stage was helped by the absence of Williams.
This was his comeback game from a knee injury, but he left the field injured after bowling the first over of the innings and did not return.
Higgs was bowled by paceman Brett Dorey in the 30th over, but Blewett's was the vital wicket.
