Court against Kenya cricket election
The Kenya Cricket Association (KCA) failed to hold fresh elections on Saturday for the second time in three years because of a court injunction, officials said.
"We cannot go ahead with the exercise because of the court order issued by the high court in Mombasa on Friday and served to the executive committee this afternoon," KCA Secretary Anil Sarkar said.
The injunction is seen as a blow to the Kenyan cricket authorities that have been looking to put their house in order in the wake of last month's warning by the International Cricket Council (ICC) that reforms were needed within the administration.
The elections should have been held in 2001 but were put off by a court order which stopped the outgoing officials from holding any annual general meeting.
The outgoing KCA Chairman Jimmy Rayani has announced that he would not defend his position which he had held for 10 years.
