Australian cricket team return home
The bulk of the triumphant Australian cricket team has arrived back on home soil following their World Cup triumph in the West Indies.
Captain Ricky Ponting and his men touched down at Sydney Airport this morning with the World Cup trophy safely in their keeping.
Ponting, vice-captain Adam Gilchrist and coach John Buchanan will talk shortly at a press conference.
The players will soon head off to a breakfast at the Sydney Cricket Ground before a reception for the team just after noon at Martin Place.
Australia became the first team to win cricket's World Cup for a third straight time by defeating Sri Lanka by 53 runs in the final in Barbados last weekend.
