Offender should get lifetime ban: Noad
A Bulldogs fan's digital photograph has enabled the NRL club to identify the offender who lit a firecracker during a recent semi-final at Aussie Stadium.
Bulldogs chief executive Malcolm Noad said he would push for a lifetime ban from all NRL matches for the perpetrator, who was caught with the help of the club's supporters.
"We have isolated the person responsible," said Noad, who has passed the photograph on to the NRL and police.
"It's great news. We've done it only as a result of the help of Bulldogs supporters from the photos we were supplied.
"What we're encouraging now through our code of conduct is self-policing, which is our supporters telling the club if someone does something irresponsible.
"It seems to be working."
"As far as we're concerned it's a police matter and we'd expect the NRL would place a ban on this person as soon as the police have been through their processes," explained Noad.
"I would push for a lifetime ban (from all NRL matches), absolutely.
"We've already banned three people from our games for verbal abuse but this was beyond that."
Three Bulldogs fans were banned for up to 15 months for an ugly verbal confrontation with Cowboys supporters after a round 22 clash at Sydney Showground in August.
