New digital age of racing on the way
Negotiations are underway to bring world first digital television broadcasting to the Australian Racing industry.
Sky Channel is believed to be in discussions with Foxtel to launch a world first multi-channel optioned digital television that would enable racing enthusiasts to choose what they want to watch.
According to Sydney's Daily Telegraph there would be dedicated thoroughbred, greyhound or harness racing programs and viewers could alternate camera angles or change tracks at any given time.
Sky's current consolidated service would remain intact with the new digital service available to their existing pay-TV service.
Sky chief executive Peter Caillard said the proposal is only in its infancy but could be running by the spring racing carnival this year.
"The proposal is still in its infancy but would be an exciting development in the broadcasting of racing," Caillard told the Daily Telegraph.
