Cowboys party set to continue
The party is set to continue in North Queensland for at least another week - and it may not end there.
The hits kept on coming in Townsville as the Cowboys ensured they would be one of four teams still standing in the NRL title race with a 10-0 win over Brisbane before a packed house at Dairy Farmers Stadium, their first victory over the Broncos in 17 attempts.
The club now has the chance to further display its premiership credentials against the competition favourites - the Sydney Roosters - at Telstra Stadium on Sunday.
The winner of that game will face the victor of the Penrith-Bulldogs clash, to be played on Saturday night at Aussie Stadium, in the grand final.
"The Cowboys were very impressive," said Sydney Roosters coach Ricky Stuart.
"They played a very good game of football."
Asked what impressed him about the Cowboys, Stuart said: "Just the individual players, the way they're playing, they're in good form.
"We know from over the years that there's always uncharacteristic twists and turns.
"This season is no different.
"The teams that end up playing at the back end of the semi-final series are the teams that are playing the best at that stage of the season."
