Raiders unfazed by Carney's return
Canberra winger Adam Mogg denies any bad blood between the Raiders and Sydney Roosters ahead of Sunday's NRL battle between the sides at Canberra Stadium.
The Roosters have plundered the Raiders' playing stocks in recent seasons and this week saw winger Justin Carney follow the path of former teammates Todd Carney and Phil Graham by signing for Brian Smith's side for 2011.
Raiders winger Joel Monaghan was another who left the nation's capital for Sydney's eastern suburbs in 2001 before returning in 2004, and there has been speculation exciting young fullback Josh Dugan will join the Roosters in 2012.
However, Mogg said there is no greater incentive to beat the Roosters than any other team in the NRL.
"It is all part of football nowadays, players come and go but it will be good to catch up with some old faces on Sunday," Mogg told AAP.
The game will also see Carney return to Canberra for the first time since his sacking by the club in 2008 for a series of off-the-field indiscretions.
And although Mogg acknowledges that the presence of the former playmaker will create problems for the Raiders, he warned against focusing solely on Carney.
The former Queensland winger also warned that David Furner's side, who sit in 12th spot on the ladder, four points behind the eighth-placed Roosters, need to start turning their season around.
"We were well beaten by them back in Sydney earlier in the season and Toddy played very well that night but we really have to win this game as the season is in danger of slipping away," he said.
"We have been playing well in patches, but falling short over 80 minutes.
"We are not panicking and the mood and spirit in the camp is still good, but this is the crunch part of the season with teams pushing for the top eight and that is where we need to be."
