Hewitt through to quarter finals
Lleyton Hewitt has set up a mouthwatering Wimbledon quarter final against top seed Roger Federer after overcoming Carlos Moya in the fourth round.
Seventh seed Hewitt started slowly and dropped his first set of the tournament before winning a tense Centre Court encounter 6-4 6-2 4-6 7-6(7-3) to even his career ledger with Moya at five wins apiece.
In only his second quarter final at Wimbledon, he will face a dominant Federer on Wednesday after the defending champion beat Croatian Ivo Karlovic 6-3 7-6(7-3) 7-6(7-5).
The only other time Hewitt reached the final eight, he went on to win the title in 2002.
"I'm looking forward to the challenge ahead but I have to raise my game," Hewitt said.
"I'm playing well enough at the moment but Roger's capable of playing exceptional tennis."
Hewitt threw his racquet down in disgust when he blew a match point on Moya's serve at 5-4 in the fourth set, but held firm to take the tie-break.
The Spaniard fought back from three break points in the fourth game and then, after going down in what looked to be the crucial break at 4-2, again dug deep to crack Hewitt's serve and send the set to a tie-break.
A stunning backhand cross court gave Hewitt the mini break before a return of serve set up four match points.
Hewitt won the match on the second chance when Moya hit a forehand into the net.
