Hewitt and other two Aussies on court
Lleyton Hewitt is expected to cast aside a niggling viral bug and play his second round clash at the Sydney International.
The tournament top seed is scheduled to meet Austrian Jurgen Melzer in the third match on centre court.
It is a jam-packed day of Aussie action at Olympic Park with wildcard Peter Luczak facing Russian Igor Andreev from 1100 AEDT on court two and Chris Guccione up against Italy's Andreas Seppi in the fourth match on the same court.
Hewitt spent Thursday resting at his Palm Beach home while three tournament seeds fell at Homebush.
Fourth seed Richard Gasquet and No.6 Tommy Robredo both lost to Russians, leaving Hewitt the only seed left in the top half of the draw.
Hewitt is chasing a fifth Sydney title, but said he won't jeopardise his health ahead of next week's Australian Open.
"I feel that my health is more important for Melbourne than getting matches under my belt," Hewitt said.
"I feel if I'm healthy and feeling 100 per cent, then my game will come together nicely.
"When anyone's sick, the first and foremost thing is to be feeling 100 per cent again."
Eighth seeded American James Blake will take to the centre court prior to Hewitt in a highly anticipated match against former Sydney finalist Carlos Moya.
In women's quarter-finals top seed Kim Clijsters features in the main evening clash (from 1930 AEDT) against Italian seventh seed Francesca Schiavone.
Another Belgian former world No.1, Justine Henin-Hardenne, follows Hewitt onto centre court against Russian Nadia Petrova, the 4th seed.
