Hewitt faces another Spaniard
Carlos Moya will get the opportunity to extract some Davis Cup revenge when he takes on Lleyton Hewitt in the final of the adidas International.
Moya was part of the Spanish team that lost to Australia in the final last month, despite holding up his end.
The Spaniard had beaten Mark Philippoussis in his first singles match but didn't get a chance to meet Hewitt with The Scud closing out the tie 3-1 with his win over Juan Carlos Ferrero.
Hewitt has 3-5 career record against Moya, but is a two-time winner in Sydney, having won consecutive titles in 2000 and 2001.
Both players are looking to round out their Australian Open preparations in style with a win at the $A1.26 million tournament.
Moya reached the final with a comfortable win against Wayne Ferreira while Hewitt only had to win a set before his opponent, Martin Verkerk retired citing dizziness and stomach problems.
Illness also played its part in the women's draw with Lindsay Davenport's withdrawal because of a shoulder injury giving Justine Henin-Hardenne a free pass through to the final.
Rain was also a key factor with Friday night's scheduled women's semifinal between Amelie Mauresmo and Francesca Schiavone abandoned
It will be held on court one at 11am (AEDT).
The men's final between Hewitt and Moya will be played as per schedule on centre court after the men's doubles final between Todd Woodbridge-Jonas Bjorkman and Bob and Mike Bryan.
