Fittler looking for redemption
Brad Fittler revealed one of the major reasons behind his stunning decision to come out of representative retirement - the chance to exorcise some three-year old demons.
Fittler was named at five-eighth in the Blues side, ending his self-imposed three-year exile from State of Origin rugby league and rescuing NSW selectors from a potential bind.
But confusion still reigns over the extent of his comeback, with the Roosters adamant the 32-year-old will only play in Origin II and selectors convinced he is available for the third game as well.
Fittler was playing his cards close to his chest.
"I think when I get to that hurdle I'll face it," Fittler said.
"At the moment I'm just concentrating on the one game. Hopefully it won't be too hard."
As far as the Roosters are concerned, Fittler's comeback will end at fulltime in Origin II.
"Our information from the contact we have had at this club is that he's available for the second Origin," Roosters chief executive Brian Canavan said.
"We'll support him in Origin II and address it after that."
Fittler was one of five changes to the NSW side which won Origin I, joined by Roosters teammate Anthony Minichiello, Newcastle's Timana Tahu and Cronulla pair Brett Kimmorley and Jason Stevens.
