Anderson a fantastic coach, Fittler says
Roosters great Brad Fittler says he can't wait to kick off his new role as assistant coach at the NRL club, with his former Test mentor Chris Anderson in charge.
Anderson replaces dumped Roosters mentor Ricky Stuart, who is the current Test coach.
"I've just heard the news and it's great news," Fittler told AAP on Friday night of Anderson's appointment.
"I think he's a fantastic coach and things are looking positive."
Fittler helped Penrith win its first premiership as a teenager in 1991 and led the Sydney Roosters to their most recent title as captain in 2002, retiring as a player after Stuart's side lost the 2004 grand final to the Bulldogs.
Former Kangaroos skipper Fittler said he planned to build on the rapport he had established with Anderson during their time together in previous Test campaigns.
"I've been involved with Chris before with the Australian team and we had success there, so I look forward to it," added Fittler, 34.
The father-of-two held a part-time role at Bondi Junction as skills coach for the 2006 season.
