Roosters hold hope in Freddie
The Sydney Roosters are confident captain Brad Fittler won't leave them in the lurch as the veteran five-eighth ponders his rugby league future.
Fittler, 32, is signed to the 2002 NRL premiers until the end of this year and could probably stay at the high-flying club for as long as his body holds up.
"He won't do the wrong thing by the club," said Roosters chief executive Brian Canavan.
"He won't hold his decision until August or anything like that.
"He'll make his own decision when he's comfortable with it.
"The vibes I'm getting from him is that he just wants to play some games ... and get a sense of how he's feeling.
"He's most welcome to stay if he wants to."
Five-eighth Fittler, who returned from a two-day trip to Dubbo as part of the Qantaslink coaching clinics, said he was in no rush.
"I'd hate to jump in and say something I didn't want to say," the former Test and NSW captain said.
"The good thing is that I still have time and I'm just going to worry about this year.
