Kingz announce five new signings
A day after losing unhappy assistant coach Stu Jacobs, the Football Kingz announced five new signings for the 2003-4 Australian national league season.
Jacobs walked out on the club claiming he wasn't getting anywhere with club boss Chris Turner.
The new signings are:
Glen Collins: A midfielder/defender from Christchurch. Collins played in the United States for Carolina Dynamo and the All Whites. He will join the squad at the end of the month.
Chad Coombes: The youngest of the new additions at 19, Coombes has been playing for North Shore United in the Southern Trust National League.
Ross Nicholson: The Central United goalkeeper was a member of the larger All Whites squad earlier this year.
Brad Scott: This will be Scott's second season in the NSL, having played for Canberra Cosmos in the 2000-01 season before returning to New Zealand to play for Napier City Rovers for the past two seasons. He has played for both the New Zealand Under 23 team and All Whites.
John Tambouras: An Australian who had a trial with the Kingz and impressed coach Ken Dugdale. Tambouras played in the Greek first and second division leagues after being a regular at South Melbourne from 1997-2000.
Turner said three players from outside the Oceania region would also be joining the Kingz, but an announcement would be made later.
Kingz squad to date: Mark Beldham, Mark Burton, Jeff Campbell, Jeremy Christie, Glen Collins, Chad Coombes, Mauro Donoso, Harry Ngata, Ross Nicholson, Jason Rowley, Brad Scott, John Tambouras, Michael Utting, Darren Young.
