Nessie goes for goals in South Africa
An Australian woman's chances of winning a Big Brother-style reality show in South Africa will depend on the scoring prowess of the Socceroos in the World Cup.
Vanessa "Nessie" Ivanisevic, 27, will compete against soccer fans from the 32 FIFA World Cup qualifying countries on a global football reality show called Bud House.
The contestants will live together during the tournament but will be evicted when their national team is knocked out.
The show's producers selected Ivanisevic as Australia's most passionate soccer fan.
The former Queensland state-squad midfielder is bound for Cape Town on Saturday, hoping the Aussie boys will do her proud.
The show will be streamed on the internet and snippets shown on pay television sports channel ESPN.
Ivanisevic told AAP she hoped she would get a chance to meet the Australian players and go to a game.
"I probably won't have much of a voice, from lots of cheering," she said.
"It's very top secret. I don't know much about what is in store for us.
"There has been some discussion that we'll get to interact with our team."
With four older siblings, her family was able to field half a team in neighbourhood games with their childhood friends, she said.
"I had lots of backyard soccer and hallway soccer as a kid," she said.
"Many broken bones in our family tournaments, but all in good fun."
Ivanisevic, who works in sports marketing in Brisbane, will enter Bud House on June 7.
Her progress can be followed on Twitter, Facebook and YouTube.
