Kings into NBL grand final
Defending champion the Sydney Kings snuffed out Brisbane's comeback season with another physical 101-96 win to sweep their NBL semi-final series 2-0.
The Kings took game one in Sydney on Saturday night 104-100 in an amazing second half comeback after being down by 26 points at one stage.
And they did it again on Sunday night after Brisbane - who picked up the wooden spoon last season - came out firing early, racing to a 30-15 lead.
Brisbane led 47-46 at half-time but went into the final quarter behind 76-66.
With their season on the line and the biggest crowd of the season urging them back, the Bullets dug deep in their reserves.
And when American Bobby Brannen muscled an inside basket they had cut the margin to 95-92 with a few minutes to play.
Brannen made four of the last five plays but the Kings kept their composure to be the first team into the best of five grand final series.
The Kings' arch rivals West Sydney can join them if they defeat the Hawks at home in their second semi-final clash on Monday night after a 107-91 opening victory at Wollongong last Friday.
Kings imports Ebi Ere (23 points, five boards) and Chris Carrawell (25 points, nine rebounds) were key contributors with former Bullet, CJ Bruton, nailing some big shots to lead all scorers with 26 points.
The Bullets did a good job limiting Sydney powerhouse Matt Nielsen who again failed to show Brisbane fans his best, finishing with 12 points and seven rebounds.
