Agassi back at Kooyong
Andre Agassi is set to continue his tennis career into the new year after the former world No.1 confirmed he would be a starter in next month's Kooyong Classic.
The veteran American's playing future had been in doubt following his withdrawal from last month's Masters Cup in Shanghai, but Agassi told tournament organisers he would take part in the event for the ninth time, according newspaper reports.
The 35-year-old traditionally uses the elite eight-man special event at Kooyong to test his pre-Australian Open form, and officials had been saving a place for the popular American in a field headed by world No.1 Roger Federer.
"We are thrilled he is coming back. He is so well known on our historic centre court. It will be business as usual for him," said Tournament Director, Colin Stubs.
The Kooyong Classic runs January 11-14, and along with Agassi and Federer, will feature American Andy Roddick and Masters Cup champion David Nalbandian from Argentina.
