Kewell in Liverpool for medical
Socceroo Harry Kewell's move to Liverpool looked like a certainty after the Australian was reportedly in Merseyside for a medical.
Kewell is said to have agreed personal terms with the English Premier League soccer club and could be a Liverpool player before the squad flies to Switzerland on Thursday for a pre-season training camp.
The Reds have not yet agreed a fee with Leeds United for the midfielder but the clubs are close to a STG6 million ($A14.76 million) deal, the Liverpool Echo said.
Kewell was expected at the club for a medical, the paper said.
Liverpool would not confirm the report and Kewell's manager Bernie Mandic was unavailable for comment.
Leeds is expected to make an announcement to the Stock Exchange in the next 24 hours revealing Kewell's sale.
Kewell has already revealed his new club to Channel Nine's A Current Affair but the interview will not be aired in full until later in the night.
"I've been speaking to them for over six months and everything just seems right for me to go there," Kewell said of his new club in a brief promotional clip.
Meanwhile, fellow Australian Brett Emerton looked set to leave Dutch club Feyenoord for English side Blackburn.
Blackburn manager Graeme Souness said he was holding talks with Emerton to negotiate a deal.
