Kewell set for Socceroos action
The Socceroos are set to risk Harry Kewell in their final pre-World Cup playoff hitout on Sunday despite the Liverpool star playing just 25 minutes of football this season.
Kewell, whose only on-field appearance since groin and hernia surgery in June was a short cameo in Liverpool's reserves last week, looks certain to come off the bench at some stage of the Socceroos' friendly against Jamaica in London.
Kewell is taking part in Australia's training camp in Holland this week, with Socceroos assistant coach Graham Arnold saying the Liverpool attacker was looking fit and sharp despite his long break.
While ruling out a starting spot for Kewell, Arnold said he was certain to get some game time on Sunday.
"Harry is champing at the bit to get on the field," Arnold said from Eindhoven.
"We'd love to see him on the field and it would be great to get him on there.
"It would be crazy to start him, but when the game slows down a bit, Harry should be on the field.
"He's working very hard and looking very good.
"His fitness has improved, he's looking a lot stronger and he's walking around with a huge smile on his face."
Kewell's improving fitness is one bright spot amid a series of injuries, form concerns and unavailability among the Socceroos.
