The fence surrounding ANZ Stadium that left Sydney forward Barry Hall with a broken wrist will now be covered in padding following a review by the AFL.

Hall broke his wrist after crashing through the flimsy signage in the round four match against West Coast, the infamous game when the fiery forward also punched Eagles defender Brent Staker and earned a seven-game suspension.

The AFL and ANZ Stadium completed a full review of the ground's fence and signage set-up following the game and the league's operations manager Adrian Anderson released the findings.

AFL ground operations manager Jill Lindsay worked with the stadium and a risk assessor and they decided the club's fence signage will now be padded and required to be placed at the same height as the temporary fence.

The railing lines on the stadium's retractable seats on each wing area will also now be padded.

The changes will be in place before the next AFL match at the ground, between Sydney and Essendon on May 18.

Sydney released a statement saying the club supported the recommendations.

"The Sydney Swans have today received a risk review report of the signage at ANZ Stadium," the statement said.

"The issuing of the report follows an extensive inspection of the perimeter signage on Thursday 17 April which was led by an independent risk review consultant, with representatives of the AFL, Sydney Swans and ANZ Stadium in attendance.

"There have been recommendations made in the report which the Sydney Swans understand will be adopted by the AFL and the club is fully supportive of these recommendations."
