Swans fined $50,000 over number blunder
The AFL have fined Sydney $50,000 for Sunday's interchange mix-up in the drawn match against North Melbourne at Telstra Dome.
Half the fine will be suspended for two years.
The Swans had 19 men on the field for about 30 seconds near the end of the match.
The league launched an investigation and have accepted Sydney's explanation that young ruckman Jesse White went onto the ground by mistake.
Fellow ruckman Darren Jolly was taken off the field when the Swans realised the error.
Jolly was involved in the passage of play that led to the game-tying score by Sydney's Brett Kirk, while White went to the North forward line.
The league said in a statement that AFL football operations manager Adrian Anderson had now put all clubs "on notice" and clubs had to ensure interchanges are made correctly.
