Port Adelaide have joined Hawthorn and Gold Coast as early travellers this weekend because of the volcanic ash plume.

The AFL confirmed that the Power will travel a day ahead of schedule on Friday for Sunday's clash with West Coast in Perth.

Hawthorn and Gold Coast flew on Thursday for Saturday's Launceston match.

But the AFL are confident that Fremantle will not need to travel early for Sunday's MCG match against Melbourne.

Sydney, Adelaide and Richmond are also travelling as scheduled this weekend.

Australian air travel is in chaos this week because of the ash from a volcanic eruption in Chile.
