Campbell Brown set to sign with Suns
New AFL club the Gold Coast Suns are set to announce on Tuesday they have signed Hawthorn tough nut Campbell Brown.
The out-of-contract Brown was a premiership player with the Hawks in 2008 and was part of the Hawks line-up who lost their elimination final to Fremantle at Subiaco on Saturday.
The no-nonsense defender won All-Australian selection in 2007 and was runner-up in Hawthorn's best and fairest award that year.
The 27-year-old Victorian played 17 games in 2010 for a career total of 159.
The Suns released a statement on Monday night saying they would "make an uncontracted player announcement" on Tuesday morning.
While Brown is a valued player, it's believed the Hawks simply couldn't match the financial terms put forward by the cashed-up Queenslanders.
Brown is set to join Adelaide's Nathan Bock and Port Adelaide's Nathan Krakouer at the AFL's 17th club, who make their debut in 2011.
