Port ready for fired-up Ablett
Port Adelaide is preparing to confront a fired-up Gary Ablett after the Gold Coast captain blamed elements of the media for making his life difficult.
Ablett was criticised by several past AFL players for staying in Melbourne for three days after the Suns' round three loss to Western Bulldogs.
Ablett subsequently missed the Suns' next fixture with calf soreness, with critics saying he should have been recuperating at home rather than remaining in Melbourne.
"I have a life outside of football just like every other player and I guarantee 90 per cent of players would go out more than me," Ablett wrote on Twitter.
"But you don't hear about them.
"I think some people in the media just hate the fact I chose to leave Geelong and they want to make things as difficult as possible.
"I actually enjoy the doubters ... it makes it more of a challenge to prove them wrong."
Ablett is expected to return for Gold Coast's away game against Port Adelaide on Saturday.
Port coach Matthew Primus expected Ablett to handle the furore with no problems.
"It might stir him up a little bit," Primus said on Tuesday.
"But he has had a lot of controversy over the last 12 to 18 months so I'm sure he'll deal with it no problems."
Primus said he was unaware of the background to the controversy.
" ... They're a professional club, I'm sure they're all over it, and I'm sure Gary is professional as anyone, so he would be be doing the right thing also," he said.
