Demons midfielder cleared of injury
Upwardly mobile AFL club Melbourne breathed a sigh of relief when midfielder James McDonald was cleared of a serious leg injury.
Tests confirmed McDonald has a medial ligament strain to his left knee and will miss up to four weeks.
Paul Wheatley, who was also a casualty in Melbourne's comeback win over Sydney at the weekend, has also been cleared.
Scans showed Wheatley has a badly bruised right foot but there is no bone damage.
Adelaide, Port Adelaide and Richmond were also hit by injuries following round five matches and Hawthorn has captain Shane Crawford and Trent Croad suffering from a stomach virus.
The clubs says Crawford and Croad will be fit to play this weekend.
Adelaide defender Ben Hart will miss at least the next two matches with a strained hamstring.
Hart suffered a back strain after the Crows' round one match and hasn't played since.
Adelaide spokesman Matthew Robran said Hart's problems had been compounded by a hamstring injury at training.
He has been ruled out of Sunday's match against Geelong and the following weekend's game against Port Adelaide.
