Campese not focusing on Origin
Canberra five-eighth Terry Campese may have scored a win over one of his rivals for a NSW No.6 jersey on Saturday night but the pivot says his mind is fully focused on NRL duties.
Campese was brilliant in the Raiders' 24-14 win at Toyota Stadium, creating the visitor's opening try with a chip and regather before sealing the win with a 70m dash with three minutes left.
It means the highly-rated Australian World Cup representative got the chocolates over rival Trent Barrett, despite the Shark also impressing in his first appearance since a neck injury in round three.
But Campese dismissed suggestions he was eyeing off a Blues jersey ahead of competition such as Barrett and Rooster Braith Anasta.
"I just want to keep playing good footy for the boys and when that comes around (Origin) you'll probably think about that then," he said.
"But at the moment (I'll) just focus on getting a few more wins for the Raiders."
Despite his individual contributions to the win over the Sharks, Campese admitted to "clocking off" a few times in the match and that he still had plenty of improvement to make.
But he was happier with the performance of his team as a whole, who have seen their record improve from 0-3 to 2-3 after back-to-back wins over the Cowboys and Sharks.
And Campese said the Easter weekend win over the Sharks was particularly sweet.
"It's up there, especially since we lost the semi-final up here we felt like we owed them one," he said.
"We came up here and we put in a tough performance and it's great to get a win away from home.
"All we needed was that first win and you keep building from that especially to get a win away from home at Shark Park it's one of the toughest road trips for us.
"We've been working hard for it all week and hopefully we can keep the form up and beat the Titans next Friday."
