Karmichael Hunt may face review panel
Star rugby league convert Karmichael Hunt will come under AFL match review panel scrutiny following Saturday night's loss to Geelong.
While Hunt delighted the Carrara crowd with his first AFL goal, he also made high contact in the first quarter with Cats ruckman Nathan Vardy.
The young Geelong player had to leave the field after the collision but was able to return later in the game.
Vardy was bent over and trying to gain possession, but in Hunt's defence he also appeared to be going for the ball when the pair collided.
Vision of the incident also suggested that Vardy initiated the heavy contact as much as Hunt.
But the league's ongoing crackdown against head-high contact, especially when the victim is low to the ground and trying to gain possession, means a nervous wait for the Suns until Monday afternoon's findings.
North Melbourne defender Michael Firrito could be in trouble for two incidents during Saturday's agonising one-point loss to Sydney at Etihad Stadium.
His late bump on Ben McGlynn in the second term gave away a 50m penalty and gifted the Swans a goal.
Late in the last term, with Sydney clinging to their one-point lead, Lewis Jetta ran down Firrito with a crucial tackle.
As Firrito and Jetta lay on the ground immediately after the tackle, video footage showed Firrito throw his elbow back in frustration and collect Jetta in the groin area.
Also on Saturday, St Kilda utility Brett Peake was booked for striking Fremantle's Dylan Roberton.
